Justice as Fairness is a concise, self-contained, and up to date presentation of Rawls' views. Rawls' difference principle of distributive justice as articulated in Justice as Fairness: A Restatement requires that the only permissible economic inequality is that which maximizes the benefit to the least well-off. A thorough and intellectually sophisticated argument for a notion of justice based on what reasonable people would supposedly agree to given equal bargaining positions. Before he died, Rawls published a third iteration of his Justice Theory, “Justice as Fairness: A Restatement.” In this book, Rawls looked at the injustices in the US and pointed a finger at Capitalist Political Economy.
